Depression care in Delhi and online

Everyone has low days. Depression is different: a low mood, or a loss of interest in things you used to enjoy, that lasts for weeks and starts to get in the way of work, study, relationships or simply getting through the day.

Dr. Aditya VohraMBBS, MD (Psychiatry), Psychiatrist in New Delhi

It is common, it is not a weakness, and it can be treated. Most people need a mix of talking, practical support and, sometimes, medicine.

Common signs

  • Feeling sad, empty or flat most of the day, for two weeks or more
  • Losing interest or pleasure in things you used to enjoy
  • Sleeping much more or much less than usual
  • Tiredness and low energy, even after rest
  • Changes in appetite or weight
  • Finding it hard to concentrate or make decisions
  • Feeling worthless or guilty
  • Thoughts that life is not worth living

When to see a psychiatrist

See a psychiatrist if low mood has lasted more than two weeks, if it is affecting your daily life, or if you have thoughts of harming yourself.

In danger right now? Call 112, or Tele-MANAS on 14416. Outside India, call your local emergency number.

How he can help

Care starts with an unhurried conversation about your mood, sleep, health and what is happening in your life. Together you agree on a plan: talking therapy, practical changes, and medicine when it will help, with regular follow-up to see how you are doing.

  1. 1

    Ask for a time

Fill in the short form below, or call or write. Say whether you would like to meet online or in person, and how soon.

  2. 2

    Confirm the slot

The clinic team confirms a time and tells you the fee before anything is fixed.

  3. 3

    First consultation

An unhurried conversation about what is happening, how long it has been going on and what you want to change. Bring any earlier prescriptions or reports.

  4. 4

    A plan you understand

Together we agree on next steps. That can combine medicine, therapy with a psychologist and regular follow-up, explained in plain words.

In person or online

Timings: Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm IST, by appointment. Closed on Sundays.

Questions

Will I need medicine for depression?

Not always. Milder depression often improves with talking therapy and changes to sleep, activity and routine. When medicine will help, he explains why, what to expect and for how long, and you decide together.

Can depression be treated online?

Yes. Online consultations by video or voice call work well for depression, from anywhere in India or abroad.
